Quantum Industry Canada Welcomes Landmark G7 Leaders’ Statement on Quantum Technologies

QIC Welcomes G7 Leaders’ Kananaskis Vision on Quantum Technologies

On behalf of Quantum Industry Canada (QIC), CEO Lisa Lambert issued the following statement in response to the G7 Leaders’ Statement on Quantum Technologies:

“Quantum Industry Canada welcomes and celebrates the G7 Leaders’ Kananaskis Common Vision for the Future of Quantum Technologies — marking a historic milestone as quantum technologies are formally recognized as a shared strategic priority at the highest level of global leadership.

The G7 Leaders have made clear: quantum is no longer a distant possibility, but a present-day economic, security, and societal priority.

We are particularly encouraged by the G7’s recognition that advancing quantum technologies will require deep public–private collaboration, targeted support for SMEs, trusted partnerships, workforce development, supply chain security, and international coordination to promote interoperability, responsible innovation, and commercialization. These are all areas where Canada’s quantum industry is well-positioned to contribute.

This G7 vision closely reflects Canada’s own early recognition of quantum as a strategic national priority, and aligns with the collaborative spirit on display this week at QUANTUM NOW / ICI QUANTIQUE, where leaders from business, government, and investment have gathered in Montréal to advance practical action on industrialization, commercialization, and global coordination — including Canada’s first-ever national quantum tech expo.

Canadian leadership, combined with the collective engagement of international partners through the International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA), has played a key role in ensuring quantum’s place at the centre of today’s global strategic agenda.

The establishment of a G7 Joint Working Group on Quantum Technologies is a particularly important step, and Quantum Industry Canada urges that industry leaders be meaningfully engaged in these discussions from the outset. Trusted, values-aligned collaboration with industry will be essential to ensure that these investments translate into scalable capabilities — for both economic competitiveness and national resilience.

We look forward to working with governments, partners, and allies to turn this shared G7 vision into coordinated, concrete action that will position trusted quantum ecosystems for long-term global leadership.”
